Hamilton
Hamilton
We recently had the pleasure of adopting Hamilton ,a 6 year old Vizsla Male.He is our 7th Vizsla and our second rescue. We lost our ZsaZsa ,who was also a rescue ,a year ago and again said that was it .But the lonely house, lack of the love of a Vizsla again changed our mind.
Hamiltons owner passed and his son wisely put him up for adoption. Stephanie Fischer swept in ,took control and put him out there.Dealing with Stephanie was a pleasure. Her prime thrust[She owns Vizslas] is to make sure the dog ends up in a proper forever home and she makes sure you are right for this adoption. She is very thorough and leaves no stone un turned with both the perspective and present owner. She has been very supportive since adoption as her interest in Hamilton hasn't wained.
Hamilton arrived 30 lbs overweight[95 lbs] but with no other issues. He is a real lover and a very happy fellow with tail wagging constantly which is proof that he came from a loving home .He was already trained in an electrical fenced yard so he acclimated to ours immediately. We adjusted his food and intake and more importantly introduced him to a 150 acre open space in our area that he could be off leash for 3-5 miles a day..He has lost 20 lbs in 5 weeks ,his energy level has doubled, he can run again and exhibits the gracefulness we all have grown to love in the breed. He has 10-15 lbs more to lose and It also helps my fitness and body fat %.
He loves our grand kids and any person[including our VET] and is getting used to other dogs - we suspect he was not socialized much.He has met our gang/pack of Vizslas [ qty 10-12] in this area who meet regulary both on the beach and one of the owners farm for exercise. He is getting used to the chaos and is starting to join in. Initially he was out run but he is getting closer to their speed every meeting.
All in all he is Happy, we are enjoying his unconditional love and thank Stephanie for her efforts and approach to this task she has taken on.
